I’m Scared to Post on LinkedIn

Let’s be honest: LinkedIn can be intimidating. Every time we log in, it feels like everyone is shouting their achievements from the rooftops, trying to one-up each other. The pressure to measure up is real, and it gives me serious anxiety.

We just want to focus on our passion—whether it's photography, graphic design, or any other creative endeavor. Posting on LinkedIn can feel like a chore, not a choice. The fear of judgment, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome can be paralyzing. What if our post falls flat? What if people think it’s irrelevant?

But here’s the thing: LinkedIn isn’t just a bragging platform. It’s a place for connection, growth, and sharing your unique voice. No one is perfect, and everyone has had posts that didn’t get the engagement they hoped for. Most people on LinkedIn are there to support and connect, not to judge.

Starting small can help ease the anxiety. Begin by liking and commenting on others’ posts to ease into the community. When you muster the courage to post, focus on being genuine. Authenticity resonates more than trying to be perfect ever will.

Drafting posts ahead of time can also help. It allows you to refine your thoughts without the pressure of posting immediately. Engaging with those who comment on your posts builds confidence and helps you learn what works.

As small business owners, LinkedIn is crucial for networking, finding clients, and establishing credibility. It’s a platform where professionals connect, share insights, and grow together. Even though a lot of us would rather be immersed in the things we are passionate about - food, dogs, giving haircuts, running our farms - having a presence on LinkedIn helps your businesses reach new heights.

So, take a deep breath, hit that post button, and remind yourself that your voice matters. LinkedIn is about professionals connecting and growing together, not just a highlight reel of successes.

If you feel LinkedIn anxiety, remember: you’re not alone. Your contributions are valuable, and the more you share, the more confident you’ll become. Let’s embrace our passions and make our mark together. You’ve got this! Let’s see what you have to say.
